Attendance
Regular attendance is paramount for all children and the school expects that parents will support the school and ensure that their child attends regularly.
To encourage good attendance children who achieve 96% attendance & above in a term receive a certificate at assembly and go into a draw to win a prize. Children with 96% attendance for the whole year are presented with an Attendance Certificates & a prize at the Annual Awards Ceremony. Parents are also asked to ensure that their children arrive on time for school each day.
The law gives no entitlement to parents to take their child on holiday during the term time. Any application for leave must only be in exceptional circumstances and the headteacher must be satisfied that the circumstances are exceptional and warrant the granting of leave.
Parents can be fined by the local authority for taking their child on holiday during term time without the consent of the school. It is important that parents understand that the initial fixed penalty notice of £80 is issued to each parent for each child. A two-parent family with two children would be fined £320.
